42 hours week shift rota system involving day, night and weekend working
You will be required to work in our Fire and Rescue Service Control Room. The role involves receiving and acting upon emergency calls for the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Service, directing fire appliances to incidents and supporting Fire and Rescue Service operations and administration processes.
We are looking for a good team player who can combine common sense with alertness, and the ability to assimilate and retain information, working with speed and accuracy, whilst keeping calm under pressure. You must be over 18 years of age, hold a 4 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades A to C including English Language with a good standard of communication skills. You must have experience in using computers and the ability to input verbal information quickly and accurately using a keyboard is required.
Full training in all aspects of the role will be given. If successful, you will be required to work with a small but highly dedicated team on a 42 hour week shift rota system involving day, night and weekend working.
You will be required to wear a uniform which is provided.

About the role
In this role, you will be required to identify, plan and deliver community safety programmes and campaigns aimed at people in their home. To provide support to Station Commanders and Home Safety Advisors in implementing the Service’s community safety strategies, policies and plans with an emphasis on reaching the most vulnerable for a home fire safety visit in line with Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
You will produce accurate statistical and performance analysis reports on prevention activity and incidents in the community in accordance with Service performance reporting requirements.
You will also provide training about fire safety in the home to internal personnel/volunteers and external groups/organisations. To share knowledge and expertise on these specialist areas, advocating referrals for the most vulnerable to fire for a Safe and Well visit from partners and when appropriate facilitate training to partners to allow Safe and Well delivery on our behalf.
About you
You will have in-depth experience and involvement with project work, the production of reports and the development of new procedures.
You will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to confidently deliver messages to internal and external audiences including young people for the purpose of relaying community safety messages. You should have the ability to use Microsoft computer applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
You will hold a driving licence with no pending issues and must be willing to work outside the normal contracted hours to attend events and functions in the evenings and weekends.

We are looking for an efficient Administration Assistant to join our busy support team in the Prevention department.
In this role, you will provide efficient administrative support to the Prevention team and assist with the co-ordination, organisation and paperwork of Safe and Well visits, Safeguarding and Fire Investigation work.
You will update and maintain records within the Safe and Well database, safeguarding records and Fire Investigation files and you will send referrals to relevant partner agencies as required.
You should have basic literacy and numeracy skills, equivalent to GCSE grade 4 or above.
You must have demonstrable word and data processing experience using Microsoft Office applications, in particular, Word, Excel and Outlook. You will also have in-depth experience of taking and producing accurate and clear minutes and other documentation for meetings. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to assist a small team in providing a comprehensive support service, which includes general site maintenance, operational equipment maintenance/testing and security for the fire and rescue service headquarters and as a courier/stores delivery service to all service locations.
In this role, you will transport administrative documentation and operational equipment to various locations within the County, in addition this will include collection and delivery of Ambulances. You will undertake a variety of tasks and work as part of a team. You will be interacting and building good working relationship with several other departments within the service. You will also be required to assist in setting up rooms for meetings; provide support and cover to Stores department as and when required.
You will have some previous experience in work of a similar nature and proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and make a significant contribution to the attainment of joint goals. You will have good standard of numeracy, written and oral communication. You will also have a full driving licence with no pending issues.
